FULL BIO
FROM COMBAT VET TO GUITAR SLINGER
Jared Petteys is a Charleston, South Carolina-based roots rock artist whose sound fuses blues, early rock ‘n’ roll, rockabilly, and modern rock into a high-energy, riff-driven edge. Blending vintage sensibility with contemporary bite, his music pulls from decades of American rock lineage while remaining unmistakably his own.
Originally from Corinth, NY, Petteys picked up the guitar at age eight. After serving two combat deployments in Iraq as a U.S. Army Cavalry Scout, he returned to music with renewed purpose, earning certifications in both Music Business and Audio Engineering from Dark Horse Institute in Franklin, TN. In 2018, Petteys founded his independent label, Retro Sonic Records, and launched Jared Petteys & The Headliners, releasing five early singles followed by his debut LP, I Ain’t Waiting, in 2020. His EP Shake A Little arrived in 2023, further expanding his footprint in the roots and rockabilly scenes.
Petteys’ recent singles including Just Go Baby, I Ain’t Gonna Lose, and Hitting The Ground have earned regular airplay on SiriusXM’s Little Steven’s Underground Garage, as well as spins on AAA and independent stations worldwide. His catalog reflects a deep affinity for Stevie Ray Vaughan, Dick Dale, and The Stray Cats, alongside classic rock, southern rock, and punk influences, all channeled into riff-forward arrangements and a modern sonic punch.
A dynamic live performer, Petteys has toured nationally since 2022 and shared stages with scene-defining artists including Reverend Horton Heat, Southern Culture on the Skids, The Delta Bombers, and The Koffin Kats. He has performed at numerous festivals throughout the U.S. and competed in the 2026 International Blues Challenge in Memphis.
Beyond the stage, Petteys is an active session guitarist, sideman, and composer with placements on Disney+ (Dancing with the Stars), and he composed the official theme song for the annual Rockabillaque festival. His career accolades include three nominations for Best Local Band by the Charleston City Paper, top finalist placement in the International Songwriting Competition, and a feature as a Gretsch Guitars Spotlight Artist.
Operating through Retro Sonic Records, Petteys oversees every aspect of his creative output-writing, producing, recording, booking, and promoting. Fuelled by modern grit and rooted in classic traditions, Jared Petteys continues to deliver performances marked by sharp guitar hooks, soulful vocals, and unmistakable live intensity.
