Bio
Jared Petteys & The Headliners is a Charleston SC-based roots rock band whose sound fuses blues, early rock ’n’ roll, rockabilly, and modern rock with a high-energy, guitar-driven edge. With a vintage sensibility and contemporary bite, his music pulls from decades of American rock lineage while remaining unmistakably his own. His recent singles have earned national radio airplay, steady touring momentum, and growing interest across the blues, rockabilly, and rock scenes.
Originally from Corinth, New York, Jared Petteys picked up the guitar at age eight and grew up immersed in music through school programs that ranged from chorus and barbershop quartet to high-school musicals, saxophone ensembles, talent shows, and vocal competitions. After serving two combat deployments in Iraq as a U.S. Army cavalry scout, he returned to music with renewed purpose, studying Music Business and Audio Engineering at Dark Horse Institute in Franklin, Tennessee and earning certifications in both.
In 2018, Petteys founded his independent label Retro Sonic Records & Productions LLC and launched his band Jared Petteys and the Headliners, releasing five early singles followed by his debut LP I Ain’t Waiting (2020). His EP, Shake a Little, arrived in 2023, further expanding his footprint in the roots and rockabilly world.
In 2024, Petteys began releasing music under his own name, including the singles Just Go Baby, I Ain’t Gonna Lose, and Hitting the Ground. All three earned airplay on Little Steven’s Underground Garage (SiriusXM) in addition to spins on AAA and independent stations worldwide. His catalog reflects a deep affinity for Stevie Ray Vaughan, Dick Dale, the Stray Cats, as well as classic rock, southern rock, punk, and alt rock, influences he channels into riff-forward arrangements, soulful vocals, and a modern rock punch.
A dynamic live performer, Petteys has toured nationally since 2022 and shared stages with scene-defining artists including Reverend Horton Heat, Southern Culture on the Skids, The Delta Bombers, The Koffin Kats, and others across the blues, rockabilly, and punk circuits. He has appeared at numerous festivals throughout the U.S. and is currently competing in the 2026 International Blues Challenge in Memphis.
Petteys is also an active session guitarist and has performed as a hired gun for acts including The Polecats and Sasquatch and the Sick-A-Billies. His work in composition includes placements in film and television, with music featured on Dancing With the Stars (Disney+). He also wrote the theme song for Rockabillaque, a large rockabilly festival that takes place in Charleston, South Carolina and Immokalee, Florida annually.
His career has earned multiple recognitions, including three nominations for Best Local Band by the Charleston City Paper (2021, 2022, 2025), a top finalist placement in the international songwriting competition, Rockabilly Rumble, for his track “Billy Rockabilly,” and a Gretsch Guitars Spotlight Artist of the Month feature in 2020.
Working through Retro Sonic Records, Petteys oversees every aspect of his creative output writing, producing, recording, booking, and promoting and continues to release new singles every few months. These releases are building toward his next full-length LP, slated for 2026.
With a sound rooted in vintage American rock but fueled by modern grit, Jared Petteys delivers performances marked by soulful vocals, sharp guitar hooks, and an unmistakable live intensity. His music blends tradition and innovation in a way that resonates across age groups, genres, and scenes, positioning him as a distinctive voice in today’s roots-driven rock landscape.
